Mobberley Victory Hall A.G.M. - Please note date change to 23rd May Due to unforeseen circumstances, the A.G.M. has had to be put back to the 23rd May still at 8pm. Nominations are still required for Chairperson, Treasurer and Secretary. Names including proposer and seconder to be sent to Julie Eadie, Lyndhurst Cottage, Newton Hall Lane, Mobberley WAI6 7LB to arrive by 14th May 2003. Local organisations are entitled to one seat on the committee for every 25 members of that organisation up to a maximum of four. Please send the names and addresses of your representatives to Julie a.s.a.p. so that a list can be drawn up in time for the A.G.M. The Management Committee look forward to your attendance, it is open to all village residents and your support is needed to ensure the future of the hall. After the A.G.M. there will be a (hopefully) short committee meeting. Please forward any items for the agenda to Julie by14th May.

I can confirm that the above number will continue as the contact for the Cheshire County Macclesfield Area Highway Office (formally the Joint Highways Office). For the immediate future, the Cheshire team will continue to be based in the Town Hall Macclesfield and can also be contacted on e-mail at engjmmacc@cheshire.gov.uk. Speaking up on Planning. The Planning Committee 28th April 2003, will be considering a request to introduce the opportunity for applicants and objectors to speak at meetings of the Planning Committee, on a six month trail basis. Hopefully this request will be approved, and in my opinion it’s introduction is long overdue in the Borough. I have already made several recommendations as to how such a protocol on public speaking at meetings should be arranged, and would hope that by next month arrangements are in place. WA16 7HL.   The Friends of Mobberley Primary School Would like to sincerely thank all who supported the race night in April. Thanks to the sponsors Bulls Head, Bird in Hand, Church Inn, ESS, Manwood wines. Sue and Phil Roberts and Bruntwood Ltd. We would like in particular to thank the Victory Hall Mens Club for their support not only in inviting us to use their facilities but also sponsoring a race and giving us their full support on the night, a fine example of community co-operation. We raised a massive sum of £438. This will go a long way to enhance and provide facilities at the school that are not covered by local authority budgets. Such projects underway at the moment are the creation of an outdoor ‘classroom’, for the infants, an important project where much of their learning takes place. Improvements to the general outdoor play area and the purchase of equipment for outdoor use have also been purchased. The new school library project has begun in earnest and books have been purchased by the Friends. Anyone wishing to take a look round the school can do so by telephoning (873242) and making an appointment. Our last event of the school year is the Summer Fair, to be held on Saturday 28th June, 1pm start. More about that in next months issue! For more information please contact Julie Eadie on 872306.
